Offshore CV Writing That Gets Past the Agency Filter
Your offshore CV rewritten by a specialist with 29+ years in North Sea and maritime recruitment. ATS-optimised around tickets, installations and rotation, back with you in 48 hours. Packages from £25.
An offshore CV is a two to three page, single-column document that leads with your tickets and medical validity, then lists installations by name with operator and rotation. It has to parse cleanly in an applicant tracking system, because North Sea agencies screen on keywords before a human opens the file. Get that structure wrong and a fully qualified hand gets filtered out by a piece of software.
What goes into a professional offshore CV
Every CV we write is built against live North Sea, Middle East and West Africa job adverts so the language matches what recruiters are actually screening for this month.
Before and after: what actually changes on the page
These are the six problems we find on almost every offshore CV that comes in, and what the rewritten version does instead.
- Two column layout with a sidebar, so the ATS reads the columns into each other
- Tickets buried on page three under Additional Information
- Employers listed as agency names only, no rig, vessel or operator
- Profile opens with hardworking and reliable team player
- Rotation pattern and availability nowhere on the document
- Five pages of duty lists copied from job descriptions
- Single column, no tables or text boxes, parses cleanly in every ATS
- Certifications block on page one with issue and expiry dates
- Installation, operator and rotation named on every role
- Profile opens with trade, years offshore and current ticket status
- Availability and rotation preference stated under the profile
- Two to three pages, achievements and scope instead of duty lists

What offshore workers say
Every CV is written personally by David, who has worked in maritime and offshore recruitment since 1997. Never outsourced, never AI generated.
David did an excellent job on my CV and LinkedIn profile. He has excellent knowledge of all offshore job roles and turned my CV around quickly. I would 100% recommend to anybody who needs a new CV or a CV update.
The service David provided was of the highest standard. From first contact to the first draft of my new CV it turned around after a few days and covered all aspects of my work life. Easy to communicate with and a very good understanding of the offshore and shipping industry.
I asked David to update my CV and covering letter from my previous military and private security experience with my transferable skills and new offshore qualifications. Very impressed with the results and have had interest from new offshore employers already.

ViewOffshore CV questions
What is an offshore CV and how is it different?
An offshore CV is a two to three page, single-column document built around tickets, installations and rotation rather than a normal onshore career story. Agencies filter on BOSIET, MIST, OGUK medical validity, rig or vessel names, operator names and your rotation pattern. If those are not in the top third of page one, the CV gets scored down before a human reads it.
How long should an offshore CV be?
Two pages for entry level and trades, three for supervisory and management. Anything longer and recruiters stop reading; anything shorter and you have left out installation history the ATS is looking for.
Do offshore CVs need to be ATS friendly?
Yes. Almost every North Sea agency runs candidates through an applicant tracking system first. Tables, text boxes, columns, headers, footers and graphics either scramble or drop out entirely, which is why a visually smart CV often scores worse than a plain one.
How much does offshore CV writing cost?
£25 for the DIY review and ATS scan if you want to keep writing it yourself, £100 for a full professional CV, £125 with a cover letter and £160 with cover letter and LinkedIn. Prices are fixed, with unlimited revisions included.
How long does it take?
48 hours from the point we have your details and existing CV. Revisions are included until you are happy with it.
Where do my tickets go on the CV?
Directly under the profile on page one, in a dedicated certifications block with issue and expiry dates. BOSIET, FOET, MIST, HUET, CA-EBS, OGUK medical and any trade tickets go there so a recruiter can confirm you are mobilisation-ready in about ten seconds.
Should I list rig and vessel names?
Yes, wherever confidentiality allows. Recruiters and applicant tracking systems both search on installation and operator names. Naming the rig, vessel or wind farm, the operator or duty holder, and your rotation is worth more than another paragraph of generic duties.
I have no offshore experience yet. Can you still help?
Yes. The job then is to translate onshore trade, military or engineering experience into the language of offshore work, lead with your survival and medical tickets, and make clear you can mobilise. Read the no experience guide first, then decide whether you want the £25 review or a full rewrite.
Do you write CVs for offshore wind as well as oil and gas?
Yes. Wind CVs are built around GWO BST, BTT and Enhanced First Aid, turbine platforms you have worked on, SOV and CTV time and array or foundation scope, which are screened differently from drilling CVs.
Who actually writes the CV?
David, who has worked in maritime and offshore recruitment since 1997. Every CV is written personally, never outsourced and never generated by AI.
Do I have to pay upfront?
Yes, checkout is secure PayPal or card at the point you place the order. Revisions are unlimited afterwards, so the price you see is the price you pay.
What do you need from me to start?
Your current CV in any format, your ticket list with expiry dates, and the kind of role you are targeting. If you have no CV at all, the intake form captures enough for us to build one from scratch.
New to the industry? Start with offshore jobs with no experience, check the tickets you need in the offshore certifications guide, or see what the roles pay in the UK oil rig salary guide.
