FIFO Offshore Jobs UK: How to Land Fly-In Fly-Out Work

Fly-in fly-out (FIFO) offshore rotations are how most UK oil and gas hands actually work — a set number of days on the installation, a set number of days at home, flights and accommodation paid for by the employer.

What FIFO offshore actually means

You live anywhere in the UK (or increasingly the EU and beyond). The employer books your travel to Aberdeen, Norwich, Humberside, Sumburgh or a heliport, flies you to the rig or wind farm by helicopter or crew boat, and pays you a day rate for every day of your rotation — including travel days.

Common UK offshore rotations

• 2/2 — two weeks on, two weeks off (standard North Sea drilling)
• 3/3 — three on, three off (production and some wind roles)
• 4/4 — four on, four off (specialists and international)
• 14/14 or 21/21 — offshore wind construction and commissioning

• BOSIET + CA-EBS (or FOET renewal)
• OGUK / OEUK offshore medical (valid)
• MIST — Minimum Industry Safety Training
• Role-specific tickets (IRATA, IWCF, HV AP, GWO, Rigger Stage 3, etc.)
